we have a topic concerning gun grips and what to use for them, here's one for what they're used for.

as you all may know, unless you ignored my post, i am making a custom pack. i asked for ideas for certain peices of the pack, in the long run i just did them. so far it looks great. now, i have a great deal of the pack done, im just lacking a very few amount of things.
one most importantly a proton gun. now, im asking you all, if you have any ideas for a custom proton gun, i want it to have sort of the same look, heck maybe it even could look like the gun, i just need some ideas. i have the handles and i'll be getting some bike grips(or somethin else) and the swtiches, i just need some ideas for the actual box. it cant be too heavy, as my pack is made with alot of plastic, but not too light weight enough to fall apart all over the place.
any ideas are appreciated.

When I did my first proton gun, I cut the main body out a piece of 4“x4” fence post (a 4“x4” post is actually 3-1/2“x 3-1/2”) and used a paddle bit on a drill press to drill out the holes for the barrel and handle. It's not very heavy, it is durable, but it would be a lot of work to get it to light up (mine didn't) One suggestion if you do this, drill out the hole for the handle before you cut the angle at the back of the gun body. (It's really hard to get the paddle bit to drill the hole into an angled piece of wood) Let us know how it turns out.

i just cut the side peices and the bottom and then used a peice of aluminum flashing for house roofing (also used it for the cyclotron) wrapped over the side peices to form the front/back/top ect.

Makes it very light, easy to drill, and best of all: no wood grain, no filling with putty or sanding blah blah blah…

my gun's main box is one big mess, i dont have the proper equiptment so im trying to use all the small, hand held power tools instead of the big ones that are needed. but for a solo project for a 16 year old i think im doing ok.
