Was Walter Peck right to check the Containment Unit?

thought came up in my head that since Peck was a part of the EPA and the fact that the GB did have “unregistered” nuclear proton packs. Would it be a credible argument to investigate the possible danger the equipment could pose to the city of New York. Granted after facing the first time was going through Peter Venkman, it boiled down to a crashing of egos and Peck stepped the line by having the unit shut down and then “shifting the blame” back to the boys. And as a truly greater display of ego, the mayor overrules Peck and having him kicked out on his ear mostly trying to save his own butt when facing the immediate coming of Gozer.

Should the GBs went to the city of New York after proving that ghosts do exist and can be contained, thus getting them the clearance or at least some city funding to meet EPA standards for their equipment?

Were in some circles that both Peter and Peck had an ego issue when first meeting? Some ways Peter had the right to turn them away without a warrant but was total a jerk in Peter-like fashion while Peck was right to be concerned but his bruised ego overshadowed his duty as an EPA inspector?

Peck was doing his duty, and the GBs should've been subject to inspection.

That said, it was a complete crashing of egos that lead to the explosion, and Peck trying to shift the blame to them even though they warned him not to shut it off.

They definitely should've been subject to inspection though.
