When Peter enters Dana aparment for the first time what is that tool his using???

The tool was a Bacharach Sniffer 300 made by Bacharach/United Technologies.
The item is still available, but according to gbprops.com, they run for $1,500. eBay sometimes have them for cheap.

Yeah, eBay has them for around $20 every once, and a while.
