The giga meter – or whatever it's called. Just didn't seem to have a point. Big, cumbersome – and they already had the PKE meter anyway.

Actually the Giga-Meter did serve a purpose in the film, just need to listen more closely.Or,if you have the time, read the script. That should clear up the reason for the Giga-Meter being in the film.BTW-Film makes things appear larger than they really are.In reality the PKE Meter/IONA Shoe Polisher is close to 11 inches long,10.75 to be exact, and the Giga-Meter prop is only close to 10.Helk,you would think the packs are huge. But there not.The packs only go from your shoulder blades to the small of your back, and the throwers are like twigs.Check Planet Hollywood. Those puppys are SMALL!

I'd say it's that microphone thingy that Ray uses on the painting. What's it do, anyway?

According to the trading card with that scene in it, it is:

“After Dana complains about the Vigo painting, Ray checks it out with his state-of-the-art Ghostbusting analyzer. Nothing shows up…..but Dana isn't convinced that all is well.”
