Why anyone would want the 2012 subscription after the disaster that was 2011 is beyond me….

It wasn't that big of a disaster, honestly. People just immediately freaked out whenever there was an issue and ended up making things worse.

My credit card changed during the subscription, and my subscription renewal failed the first time. I went into Matty, updated all of my credit card info, deleted all of the old info, in ALL places that it existed (under My Account AND under the Subscription Order itself), and then it was fine.

People will want the subscription for the exclusive figure, and for also not having to deal with the Mattel servers. I have loved not having to battle people to try to get my figures, and knowing that they're always coming is quite a relief to me.

Well, I admit I'm only saying that as an outsider. I didn't get the 2011 subscription, but from what all I've seen it didn't seem like a resounding success. Repeated emails causing confusion, orders forgotten or skipped entirely, a poor exclusive figure, etc. Maybe not a disaster exactly, but I would rather get on matty's site and order the figures as they're available. I've never had an issue with their site, anyway. In and out within a few minutes past 12 Eastern.

If they reveal an awesome figure for next year's exclusive I may change my mind, but the Ray with liquid paper spots and microscopic goggles kinda put me off. Hopefully they'll step up their game for the next round.

It's been speculated that they're marking the poorer selling figures as “sold out” regardless of them actually selling out or not.

HAH! i can see them doing that…i mean, the first release Ray has been “sold out” forever…now today he's up again….

of course, what Mattel will say about it is they went back into production due to the great sales….so,in other words,it's only limited, til we make some more…

the items being sold today were items that they had held back in case they had to replace a figure for a customer.

they must have held a hell of a lot back! isn't this like the second or third time they've done this?

Yep, they did a similar thing just before Christmas on Black Friday last year, and they have said they will do it again.

theres a discussion on the matty forums to re-issue the ray head sculpt. I to would like a new head.

i'd even be happy if,as others have said, they just use the RTBY head from this point foward…

Interesting that the man with said face(-Dan Aykroyd)-signed off on the 6“ and 12” likeness..if they were good enough for him…well, you know the rest. As I understand it,Ramis signed off on his likeness first, followed by Aykroyd and then Hudson. Of course all the Venkman figs were held up because the actor wanted it to be “just so”. Understandable, of course. But…
Is there a Ray Stantz head sculpt conspiracy? You be the judge!

I do, I think the trick is to take it out of the packaging and put it on display that should get rid of any idea of selling it off again.

I know Matty are very secretive on the amount of each product they produce and how many they sell. They say they keep a certain amount back for people who need items swapped if they arrive damaged or go missing.
It just goes to prove that they are probably telling lies when they say an item is Sold Out.

To be honest I can see the Ghostbusters line finishing very soon, due to poor sales and lack of investment. They have already said that the amount of internationl buyers is very low and we should be lucky we get anything at all as these items are for the US market only, but they do offer shipping to some countries.

Just look at the amount of times items have been pulled recently from the schedules, I think if they get low sales for the 2 pack 12" figures, Marshmellow Man and Sub for next year they will probably close the line.

sadly,yes,i can see this happening….

and, with, you figure, likely figures of “We're Ready To Believe you” Peter,Courtroom Ray,Courtroom Egon, and possible Marshmallow Mess versions of Peter,Egon,Winston ,and Peck, sadly, how many actual NEW figure will we actually be getting?

if they'd at least just finish out the “big guys”

Dana/Zuul
Gozer
Terror Dog ( with 2 heads)
Vigo

….i'd be happy…..yeah,i'd mourn no Janine,no Janosz,no “regular” Dana, etc…. but at least my collection wouldn't feel “incomplete”….if they don't produce those figures before the line folds ( and, remember,we're in year 3 now of them holding the licence….and typical licences last roughly 5 years or so) ,i can almost feel like i've wasted my time…
