An exert from Ask Matty

3. When the slimed Peter Venkman figure ships next May will his deco be similar to that of the SDCC exclusive Egon in terms of slime quantity or will he be messier?

It will be a bit messier to look as close to how Peter looked in the hotel scene. He will also have a unique head for this release.

Cool Toy Review: At SDCC '09, the 6" Peter Venkman figure of the Ghostbusters line was shown in the panel slideshow to be slimed, but the sample shown at the booth was unslimed. Is it safe to say that Dr. Venkman will be released unslimed first? (I would prefer the unslimed version anyway.)

Mattel: Peter will have a 6” slimed figure (with new arms and legs as well) in Spring and a 12” unslimed figure in Spring as well. An unslimed 6” Peter will come out later down the line.

2) Assuming that Ghostbusters is a smash with fans, is there any plans to produce an Ecto-1 for the line?

In time, this is something we would like to get to.

I shudder at the thought of how much an Ecto 1 would cost.

I ordered my 6" Ray.

I shudder at the thought of how much an Ecto 1 would cost.
Again, how would the figures fit with the packs stuck to their back?

I'm kinda iffy on the 12 figures though. They just…don't look right. I can't really explain it, but I'm holding off for now.

Same here… I wanna wait and see how good is the head sculpt off the Venkman figure… and maybe, buy it.

I doubt there's anything I'd look forward to more from this line than an Ecto-1 with lights and sounds, for the 6" figures(but I also eagerly look forward to RGB figures). I doubt it'd go for more than $100, which is perfectly reasonable to me, at least if they do a nice job on it. But fitting the figures in with packs on could be an obstacle… Who knows, maybe we'll get Packless variant figures down the line; perhaps even included with Ecto-1, but that's a longshot.

I too ordered just a 6“ Ray. I'd love a 12” just for the proton pack but I agree with deadderek that there's just something about the actual 12 " figures that doesn't do it for me. I'd love to have them, but wouldn't want to pay anywhere near $60.

u guys are making me feel like an idiot for buying the 12 inch ray lol.

Na, to be honest, the 6 inch ray looks weird to me! his face sculpt looks like he's angry or somthing idk. The 12 inch version looks more in line with dan to me. Yes, its not perfect but i can look at it and go, ya know what it kinda does look/remind me of dan.

and ive said it before and ill say it again, for that high calaber of a figure, 60 bucks, to me is a steal.

Case in point. Id love to get the whole set of the hot toys iron man and terminator figures, even the dark knight ones. There beautifuly sculpted, come with a great set of accessories, but each figure runs close to 200 bucks.

So if i was to get all 3 models of the iron man suit, that alone is 600 bucks atleast with shipping and tax.

the terminator figures…john connor, marcus, the t600 worn and unworn, thats even more money!

Here…i can get all 4 ghostbusters for 240 plus shipping and tax, spread out over 6 months! thats not even 2 hot toys figures!

And in my view, well worth the price and well within the same level of quality and detail.

Now, yes i get what you guys are saying that 60 bucks per figure is a bit high, and yes were the same figure avalable in stores for say 40 bucks, id agree with u guys 100%

But when compared to the hot toys figures which are amazing, but deffently overpriced, its a huge bargin.

Lol, no need to feel like an idiot, if you like it and it's worth it to you then that's great!

I spent £60 on a 12 “ Marvel Blade figure which most people wouldn't even consider, but to me it was worth it, despite the flaws. It's personal preference. Fact is, if I could afford to spare the money Ray would be on his way but there's just something about the 12” GB's that doesn't appeal and as I already have the 6“ Egon it makes more sense to save the money and stick with the 6”. I just know if the 12" were cheaper I wouldn't even think twice about buying them even if they weren't as I'd hoped for.

I understand compared to hot toys they are a good price, but there's no pretending they are anywhere near the same quality so they would be cheaper. I just personally would have liked a little more to encourage me to part with $60 a figure, maybe a better fitted suit would have made all the difference for me.
