Would you like New Real Ghostbusters stuff?

I love the new comics, I know I will love the new game, and hopefully a new movie too. But what about the Real Ghostbusters?

Who wouldn't like new comics, Cartoon, a Game (maybe a “sequel”, gameplay wise, to the upcoming one in RGB style) or a Real Ghostbusters movie? Why not? Get the old cast (with a new Peter) set it in early 1987 (maybe merge the styles of the two Janines, old voice and personality, some of the new looks) and get writers like Straczynski and Mueller and go all out.

That's a very interesting proposition. (The new comic completely ignores RGB - but that's a whole ‘nother can of worms). I wouldn’t mind some new RGB stuff. If you went back to seasons 1, syndicated, and 2 - there would be some real potential. The keep making brand new, straight to DVD CGI Garfield movies - why not a RGB one?

Of the options out there, I think a cartoon (be it movie length or series) would be the way to go. Hopefully the writer of the current comic will get over himself and include some RGB related humer in future issues, and it's already illustrated, so I don't think an RGB comic at the same time would be necessary, or fruitful. Game-wise - I'm really geared up that it's movie-esque. I'd rather not change that line. (Personally, I think it would have been neat if they had used RGB graphics for the Wii/PS2 version, but I digress). I think we've shown that there is support for this through the Time-Life release.

I'd like new toys, m'self. Starting with better articulation, more accurate packs/guns with removable beams (all the same color), and…a bigger and more accurate firehouse with better door hinges, interior lighting, and a separate Containment Unit playset as an adjunct that can be “attached” to the main building in much the same way that the Engineering playset from Star Trek Generations could be attached to the ST: TNG Bridge playset with a special attachment.

EDIT: On that note, figure variations like an “out of uniform” gift set would be in order as well.

I'd like new figures, but anything past that is kind of pushing it.

A sequel to this game done in RGB style will just confuse fans, and frankly, there's absolutely no reason to change the look of the game.

A new cartoon, sure. A continuation of RGB, or a semi-continuation (setting it in 1987), is just weird in my opinion. It was on while it lasted, its not anymore. Bringing it back at this point as a continuation is just odd. A completely new cartoon, sure.

A Real Ghostbusters movie, again, confusing and odd. A new movie, sure. A new animated movie, why not? But bringing the RGB style into it… that would kind of make it so that the movie guys wouldn't be voicing the characters, which would be weird. If an RGB movie was gonna happen, it should've happened in the early 90's.

New, more accurate figures would be awesome.

Personally, I'd love to see a new cartoon.

With the advent of Adult Swim, there's never been a better time to bring back the kind of edge the first season had.

I'd be in favor of setting it in present day and using an animation/CGI style similar to Futurama.

I meant a brand new game (with the same style gameplay) set in the RGB universe.

Japan had a two-episode TMNT anime series was made in 1996 set in the style of the 1987 series.

Now that you mention it, what I would really love to see is a comic book adaption of the new videogame, drawn with the Real Ghostbusters. Just like the old “The Real Ghostbusters Starring in Ghostbusters II” mini-series. That would be awesome.

I think really, if yer gonna resurrect the RGB's (which I'm totally in favor of), comic books are definitely the way to go. Although I've wanted to see an RGB movie for as long as I can remember; 1.) Lorenzo Music is dead, 2.) TPTB would never risk the time & money on a RGB movie. The same thing goes for a new series. Animators, voice actors… it's all too much hassle & risk. With a comic series though, you can do more with less money, and you can still have Lorenzo Music and Arsenio Hall doing the voices (by using yer imagination of course ).

Also, I would love to see some new RGB figures. The first series of Kenner figures was alright, but far from accurate. I'd love to see bigger figures (say 9"), with accurate detailed proton packs (perhaps with detachable ion stream), accurate uniforms, accurate faces, ghost traps for every character, and ecto-goggles for Ray, and a PKE meter for Egon. And let's not forget Janine - in plain secretary garb, circa season 1 or 2.

I don't think the edge of Adult Swim can be compared to the edge of the first season of RGB. They're nothing alike.

However, I agree with using the animation style of Futurama.
