“Would you like New Real Ghostbusters stuff?”

Yes!

I don't think a new cartoon is as big a risk as made out to be, after all, the Turtles have enjoyed a second run of animated features as has Inspector Gadget, although that latter example was definitely poorer.

As for it being RGB styled, I do agree it's not likely to happen, but I'd love a new run of Real Ghostbusters episodes.

I would love to see some more RGB stuff. Werther it be comics, cartoons, video games or toys.
If I'm not mistaking, didn't one of the GB actors(Murray?) refuse to let his likeness to be used in cartoons and was the reason why the animators had to come up with original character designs instead? Either that or some copyright dilemma.

And if what I've heard about the IDW comics is true, that still hasn't changed. Cause there was a reviewer who complained about how some of the busters didn't look quite on-model. So the cartoonists could've just might as well have used the RGB designs instead. Or would they have to pay royalties to DIC? (or whoever it was who owns the rights)

Animated movies set in the RGB universe is a idea I like to.
Batman The Animated series and Futurama had several spin off direct-to video movies, which all did fairly well and it would be interesting to see something like that done with RGB.

Thats because of DiC aka Does it Cheap.

And now they've been bought out. They stopped being good in the eighties, RGB was the last thing they did that didn't suck (well maybe Mario Bros., at least the live action parts)

Had the designs been made to look like the specific actors, copyright law would've made the studio have to pay the actors royalties to use their likenesses. That, in addition to the ‘each character has their own colour’ principal, which made them all look different, let to the Real Ghostbusters looking so radically different from the actors who played them in the films.

Yep, as the RGB character designs were created by DIC, IDW would have had to buy the rights to use those characters in the comic.

Actually the animation quality was good, it was the idea of the Gadgetinis and such which was poor if you ask me.

They stopped being good in the eighties

Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century was a pretty good cartoon they put out in the 1990s, so I think some credit for the production staff at that era is due.

I agree with you on that whole heartedly. I loved that series…the voice was great as well..

I don't think the edge of Adult Swim can be compared to the edge of the first season of RGB. They're nothing alike.

However, I agree with using the animation style of Futurama.

Well obviously Adult Swim is geared towards a different audience than RGB was. I meant it more as a level of freedom for creators.

Having said that, I would love to see it a new Ghostbusters show teamed up with Clone Wars on Cartoon Network.

Obviously it's not going to (nor does it have to be) as edgey as Boondocks or Aqua Teen, but there's probably not a network around that would, at the very least, give them the chance to do something comparible to what they did 23 years ago.

RE: Kingpin

I'm really not sure how that new Inspector Gadget series is looking, especially since Cookie Jar has bought out DiC.

I don't recall the quality of the writing as it's been ages since I last watched an episode…
